Study guide

1. Sources and drafts

Create a course, then paste notes or import a UTF-8 TXT or Markdown file. Save the source before choosing Generate materials. Headings become lesson sections; definitions, paired Q:/A: lines and {{answer}} markers become draft cards. Preview the results before adding them. Repeating generation from the same source skips matching material.

Top-level fenced code examples stay in the lesson text but do not generate cards or headings. Use matching runs of at least three backticks or tildes, with up to three leading spaces. An unclosed fence keeps the rest of the source literal. This boundary does not parse nested lists, blockquotes or indented code. You can still cite a code example in a manually written card.

# Web basics
Protocol: A shared set of rules for communication.
Q: What does a browser request?
A: A resource from a server.
A {{backup}} is a separate copy for recovery.

Unstructured prose uses a simple word-completion rule and may make weak or ambiguous questions. Generation does not paraphrase, fact-check or call a language model. You can also add a card manually or import a CSV with prompt, answer, quote columns; every quote must match the selected source exactly.

2. Source review

Open the source citation, edit the prompt or answer if needed, and record your name and review note before approving a card for practice. An exact citation shows where wording came from; it does not prove the source is correct. Editing a card or replacing its source returns affected cards to draft and clears their current schedule. Older source text and study snapshots remain available.

3. Practice and quizzes

Practice shows the question before revealing its answer. Rate your own recall: Again keeps it due today; Hard schedules tomorrow without advancing; Good advances one step; Easy advances two. The ladder is 0, 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60 and 120 days, using the study day you select. Each card appears once per round, so start another round for Again cards. This rule does not measure mastery or promise better recall.

A quiz freezes up to 20 reviewed, active cards. Typed answers survive reload. Finish & compare reports exact matches after ignoring case and extra whitespace, answers needing your comparison, and blanks. It does not grade synonyms or meaning, collapse different scientific symbols, or change practice schedules.

4. Exports and backups

Progress & export provides a Markdown or offline HTML study guide, a reviewed-card worksheet with a separate answer key, cards and practice CSV, and course JSON. Print / save PDF uses your browser's print dialog. A course report is not a restorable backup: use Export backup for the complete workspace, including source versions and study history.

Privacy and recovery

What stays on this device

Your courses, source text, cards, answers and history are stored in this browser profile. The study workflow makes no external data or model requests. Loading the website still requests its public files from the hosting service; following a MacL link opens another site. People who share this browser profile can access the same workspace. There is no account login, cloud copy or cross-device sync.

Before clearing data or changing devices

Export a full backup and store it somewhere you control. Downloads contain your study material in readable form; protect them before sharing. Clearing this site's browser data removes its local workspace, but does not remove files you downloaded or shared. Browser storage can also be unavailable, full or removed by the browser. A local save is not a backup service.

If a save fails or another tab changes the workspace

Keep the tab open and export its current backup first: unsaved edits may exist only in memory. Use Retry save after a storage problem, or Reload saved workspace after reviewing a cross-tab conflict; reloading discards that tab's unsaved edits. Restore backup checks the file and source hashes, then asks before replacing the entire workspace. Export the current workspace before confirming a replacement.

Course exports contain the selected course; a full backup contains every course in the workspace. Source hashes detect changed saved text, not whether a source is authentic or accurate.

Preview limits

This preview supports 8 courses; each course can hold 20 source versions, 40 lessons, 200 cards, 2,000 practice events, 50 completed quizzes and one active quiz. Each source allows 100,000 characters; source and CSV files are limited to 1 MB, and restorable backups to 20 MB. Generation proposes up to 100 cards at once and reports omitted candidates.

PDF, DOCX, scanned-page, audio and video extraction are not available. There are no cloud accounts, shared classrooms, automatic sync, subscriptions or payments. Questions come from your source and need your review; this is not an independent tutor or an assessment of learning. Broader browser and device acceptance remains in progress.
